Environmental Business Pledge
We are very proud that the measures we take to reduce our impact on the environment have been recognised with a Gold Award from Manchester Environmental Business Pledge. The Pledge is designed to recognise companies that are greening-up their business processes and adopting more sustainable practices. The scheme is run by Manchester City Council in partnership with Groundwork, Mersey Basin Campaign, Encams and the Environment Agency.
Wind-powered hosting
This website is hosted on a high performance server at the UK’s first and only zero carbon emissions data centre. Power at the centre is from 100% wind-generated energy and the servers utilise low-energy technology to consume up to 60% less power than their conventional counterparts.
Server power consumption is a massively overlooked element when companies are assessing their carbon footprint. We hope that by moving to wind-power we can lead by example. If you’d like to find out more give us a call or email us at windpower (at) corporationpop.co.uk.
Not just recycling
Where possible, we use recycled paper products in the day-to-day running of the office. We recycle all the paper, card, plastics, bottles and batteries we use with Emerge Recycling. All printer toner cartridges are recycled by Lasertech. All redundant computer equipment is donated to Computers4Africa. We subscribe to a green energy tariff and regularly monitor the efficiency of all electrical appliances. We hold bi-annual energy audits to examine existing processes and to look at new ways of reducing the impact that our business activities have on the environment.
When required we provide expert advice to our clients on sourcing environmentally friendly products and processes.
We have signed up to the 10:10 campaign and aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 10% in 2010.
